Striking

Striking for pipa explores extreme contrasts between sharp percussive attacks of the strings and lyrical sections.  The piece is meant to symbolize the first break of the winter by the early spring
thunders, which awaken creatures that have been dormant through the cold months.  The sharp contrasts in the composition are meant to suggest polarities of energetic movement versus the introverted lingering of winter memories.
